Public Works Utilities Department

The City of Monroe Utilities Department is tasked with handling the operation and maintenance of the City's drinking water, sewer collections, street, and storm surface water collection systems.  We also maintain all of the City facilities.

Coming from varied backgrounds, the utilities department has employees skilled in numerous different trades.  Those skills are put to use on a daily basis while performing typical infrastructure maintenance activities such as, but not limited to the following:

  • Daily checks of drinking water reservoirs and pump stations
  • Water meter reading.  (Billing questions click here)  (Think you have a water leak?)
  • Monitoring of drinking water quality and Backflow Assembly Testing
  • Sewer main line cleaning and repair
  • Street sweeping
  • Asphalt repair and patching of pot holes
  • Road sign maintenance and street painting
  • Catch basin cleaning and retention pond maintenance
  • General facilities maintenance
